Date sugar — also called date powder — is simply whole Deglet Noor dates that have been dried and ground into a fine granulated powder. That's it. One ingredient. Nothing removed, nothing added. Unlike refined white or brown sugar, date sugar retains everything naturally present in the whole date: fiber, potassium, magnesium, iron, and antioxidants.

Ours is made from Tunisian Deglet Noor dates — the same farm-direct dates we've been producing for over a decade. Most date sugar brands source from California or unknown origins. We control the entire process from oasis to bag, which means fresher dates, better flavor, and full traceability.

Deglet Noor date sugar vs the competition

Anthony's, Nutricost, and most US brands use California Deglet Noor. Tunisian Deglet Noor is the original variety — grown in drier desert conditions, it produces a date with more concentrated flavor and lower moisture, which translates into a date powder with a richer, more complex caramel-butterscotch taste and longer shelf stability.

How to use date sugar

• 1:1 swap for brown sugar in cookies, muffins, quick breads, banana bread, and granola bars
• Sprinkle over oatmeal, yogurt, chia pudding, or sliced fruit
• Blend into smoothies and protein shakes for natural sweetness
• Dry rubs — mix with spices for a caramelizing crust on meat or roasted vegetables
• Protein balls and energy bites — binds and sweetens simultaneously

Important note: Date sugar does not dissolve in liquid the way refined sugar does — it retains fiber content. For liquid applications like coffee or tea, we recommend our Date Paste instead.
